Commercialized Christmas

Sorry about this. I'm trying to get back in to the habit of blogging every day but I can't always think of something to blog about. When ever I do find something to blog about I forget to blog.
Anyway, today, I was watching a cartoon on one of my favorite websites, www.stupidvideos.com called Christmas lights when my brain suddenly linked the cartoon to another movie I had seen recently. A Charlie Brown Christmas. That is one of my dad's all time favorite movies and it is getting to be one of mine. In fact, I think my dad has blogged on it recently. If you haven't seen it then you should know that all throughout the movie, Charlie Brown is trying to figure out what christmas is all about because all he sees it as is "commercialism". He goes around trying to find out what it is about and finally Linus tells him that it is about the birth of Jesus Christ and the hope that he brought.
So back to the video. The video, as the name of the website shows, is pretty stupid but it is also funny. It basically show a house that has completely commercialized there house and put up a light show that is coreographed (I think that is spelled wrong but I have no clue how to spell it) to a christmas song that is long and not commonly heard as far as I know because this was the first time I had ever heard it. So this got me thinking, I wonder how many people actually know why we have Christmas because it obviously isn't for light shows. So I decided to put a sitation on my blog. If you have your bible please open it up to Matthew chapter 1 verse18
" Mary was engaged to be married to Joseph. Before they came to the marriage bed, Joseph discovered she was pregnant. ( It was by the Holy Spirit, but he didn't know that.) Then Joseph woke and did exactly as the angel commanded but did not marry her until after the baby was born and then he named him Jesus." as told by Eugene Peterson in the Message.
